Signing Ceremony for the Construction of the Tashkent Campus
As an activity within the framework of the meeting between the heads of state of the two countries, President Wu Pute was invited to attend the Uzbekistan–China Agricultural Educational Forum held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China, where he had friendly exchanges with Ibrokhim Yulchiyevich Abdurakhmonov, Minister of Agriculture Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Witnessed by Minister Ibrokhim Yulchiyevich Abdurakhmonov, President Wu Pute and Abduvasikov Abduaziz Abdulazizovich, Vice Rector of Tashkent State Agrarian University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on jointly establishing Tashkent Campus NWAFU.
Wu Pute noted that China and Uzbekistan share a long and profound history of exchanges, marked by mutual respect, good-neighborly friendship, solidarity, and win-win cooperation. The relationship between the two countries has achieved leapfrog development, yielding fruitful results across various fields. As both China and Uzbekistan are major agricultural countries with similarities and complementarities in many areas, strengthening agricultural cooperation between the two sides is of great significance for addressing global food security challenges and advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Wu Pute stated that both Tashkent State Agrarian University and Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers serve as standing council members of the Silkroad Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Alliance initiated by our university. Within the framework of the Alliance, our university has actively advanced practical cooperation with the two institutions. Together, we have established the China-Uzbekistan Water-Saving Irrigation Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park and a smart agriculture classroom, secured approval for an intergovernmental cooperation project between China and Uzbekistan, jointly set up the Tashkent Chinese Language Education Center, and signed an agreement to build the China–Central Asia Arid Zone “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory. These efforts have yielded remarkable results in scientific research, technology promotion, and talent cultivation.
Ibrokhim Yulchiyevich Abdurakhmonov stated that the Uzbek side will actively support the construction of Tashkent Campus NWAFU and the “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory. He also expressed the hope that our university will further strengthen talent cultivation for Uzbekistan, expand scientific research cooperation, and provide training for high-level agricultural technicians.
The framework agreement on jointly establishing the Tashkent Campus primarily covers disciplines such as Agricultural Economics and Management, Water-Saving Irrigation, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, and Crop Breeding. It includes both undergraduate and graduate training programs. The two sides will establish a Joint Management Committee for the campus as its highest decision-making body, responsible for overall planning, coordination, organization, decision-making, and supervision.
Taking this as an opportunity, the two sides will actively implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state of both countries, further promote the deep integration of China–Uzbekistan agricultural education models, and provide insights and recommendations for the sustainable development of agricultural science and education cooperation between the two countries and for shaping a new pattern of collaboration and exchange. They will also build a platform to facilitate deeper cooperation in the agricultural sector between China and Uzbekistan.
