To implement the important consensus reached between the heads of state of China and Kazakhstan, and China and Uzbekistan, and to accelerate the establishment of a high-level hub for opening agricultural and forestry education to the West, from November 13 to 20, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Northwest A&F University Committee Yan Zushu led a delegation to visit four universities in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, advancing scientific and educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges with Central Asian countries.

Promoting Our University at an International Academic Symposium
From November 13 to 16, at the invitation of Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University and Shakarim University, the delegation visited Kazakhstan. During the visit to Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University, Chairman of the Board-Rector Tireuov Kanat Maratovich met with the delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on selecting high-quality candidates and improving training quality for the China–Kazakhstan dual-master’s program in Food Science and Engineering, which is included in the outcomes of the China–Central Asia Summit. They also signed a memorandum of cooperation on jointly establishing the China–Kazakhstan Grain Analysis and Testing Research Center. Both sides stated that they will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and jointly enhance the global educational influence of both universities.
During the visit to Shakarim University, the delegation attended the university’s 90th anniversary celebration, where Chairman of the Board–Rector Duman Orynbekov met with the delegation. On behalf of the university, Yan Zushu extended warm congratulations to all faculty, staff, and alumni of Shakarim University, reviewed the history of cooperation between the two institutions, and highlighted the practical achievements arising from the implementation of the outcomes of the China–Kazakhstan heads-of-state meeting. He expressed the hope that the two universities would work together with sincerity to carry out broader and deeper cooperation, achieving mutual empowerment. At the international academic symposium, Yan Zushu actively promoted our university and expressed willingness to deepen collaboration in student exchange, faculty visits, joint research, academic conferences, and the transfer of scientific and technological achievements. During the visit, the delegation also toured the planned Sino-Kazakh Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Park to explore future joint efforts in developing new varieties, new models, and new technologies.

Delivering a Course on the University’s History and Development to Students at the Tashkent Campus
From November 17 to 20, the delegation visited Tashkent State Agrarian University and Samarkand State University in Uzbekistan at their invitation. During the visit to Tashkent State Agrarian University, Executive Rector Islamov Soxib Yaxshibekovich met with the delegation. The two sides conducted a detailed, issue-by-issue review of the renovation and design plan for our university’s Tashkent Campus, advancing each task and milestone in a coordinated manner, and jointly presented admission letters to the new students of the campus. During the visit, Yan Zushu also toured the Tashkent Chinese Language Education Center, where he taught Chinese courses to students of the branch campus and delivered a special lecture on the university’s history and development. He offered an in-depth interpretation of the university motto, “Sincerity, Simplicity, Bravery and Perseverance”, encouraging students to use Chinese as a bridge to better understand Chinese culture and contemporary China, and to become ambassadors for China–Uzbekistan agricultural exchange.
During the visit to Samarkand State University, Vice Rectors Akhatov Akmal Rustamovich and Khushvaktov Khakim Abdulkhakovich met with the delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on establishing the China–Uzbekistan Crop Breeding Engineering Center and visited the university’s winter wheat demonstration plots and laboratories. They expressed the hope of further strengthening cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, as well as in organizing summer and winter camps, jointly promoting the internationalization of both universities.
