On May 21, the thesis defense for the first cohort of students (Agronomy and Seed Industry in Horticulture) at the Tashkent Campus NWAFU took place. Members of the Chinese and international defense committee participated in the defense both online and offline, working together to review and ensure the quality of the students‘ degree theses.

Three students—RASULOV KAYRAT、URAZBOEV AZIZBEK、OLIMOV AVAZBEK—focused their theses on key aspects of strawberry breeding and propagation. Their research topics were respectively titled: “Analysis of Biological Characteristics and Fruit Quality of Strawberry Hybrid Offspring from ‘Bailu’ × ‘Xiangye’”, “Study on Biological Characteristics of Strawberry Parents and Their Hybrid Offspring”, and “Analysis of Plant Traits and Fruit Quality of Strawberry Hybrid Offspring from ‘Xuetu’ × ‘Xiangye’”. These studies demonstrate strong professional relevance and practical application value. The defense proceeded in an orderly fashion, marked by a solemn yet spirited atmosphere. The three students delivered their presentations one by one, covering the research background, objectives, experimental methods, data analysis, key findings, and innovations. They systematically demonstrated the phased research outcomes achieved under the guidance of their supervisors. Based on the content of the theses and the practical realities of agricultural industry development in both China and Uzbekistan, the thesis defense committee posed questions on aspects such as experimental design, data processing, result analysis, literature citation, thesis standardization, and application prospects. The committee also provided suggestions for revision and improvement regarding the shortcomings identified in the theses. The students carefully listened to the experts’ comments and responded to each question based on their own research.
After thorough deliberation, the thesis defense committee unanimously approved the successful thesis defense of the three students: RASULOV KAYRAT、URAZBOEV AZIZBEK、OLIMOV AVAZBEK. The successful completion of this defense has laid a solid foundation for the first cohort of students at the Tashkent Campus NWAFU to graduate smoothly. The Tashkent Campus NWAFU adopts a dual-supervisor training mechanism, fully leveraging the disciplinary strengths and resource advantages of both universities. It strengthens coordination and collaboration in curriculum delivery, research training, thesis guidance, and quality assurance, while strictly managing the training process to enhance the quality of postgraduate education.
